Why WordPress is the One Size Fits All Solution to your Needs

In a world of complexity, simplicity can be a bursting breath of fresh air. Some things are just more complicated than they need to be. I like things explained in plain and simple English so that I can get started as soon as possible and move forward. I started learning how to blog on blogger because I loved it’s super simple platform, and I was rather intimidated by all the stories I heard about how much more “technical” WordPress was, and I must admit, at first, I allowed this fear of the unknown to keep me from exploring it’s powerful features and vast capabilities. I thought WordPress was simply too difficult to learn and that the learning curve was frustrating. This couldn’t have been further from the truth.

WordPress is fairly easy to use, and much more rewarding than I could have ever imagined. There are many books and videos out there that give tips and pointers on getting started with WordPress. Some charge, others don’t, and sometimes finding a good tutorial on getting started with WordPress is like trying to locate a needle in a haystack so I included a link at the end of this article that explains WordPress for free, in plain and simple English.

Why use WordPress?

There are many reasons to use WordPress, some of which vary depending on your needs. But from my experience it all boils down to ease of use, power, and control. The ease of use comes from WordPress’s vast and knowledgeable online community, the power from it’s seemingly unlimited amount of plug ins that allow you to completely customize your website to fit almost any need, and the control of independently owning your own site with wordpress.org, and not having to worry about getting the boot for violating another company’s terms and conditions on one of those other free sites, and possibly losing all of your hard work and SEO.

But there’s more. In my opinion, one of the most important reasons to use WordPress boils down to one of my all time favorite words: Monetization. When you completely own your domain name with paid hosting on wordpress.org’s platform, it’s like being given the keys to your local bank if you play your cards right. The power to monetize your site any way you choose is easily within your grasp. There is plenty of money to be made for people who thoroughly research markets and set up a WordPress blog or website to cater to those individual niche markets, and WordPress is fully equipped to carry the load professionally.

How to use WordPress

If you are simply blogging as a hobby for friends and family, or as a personal journal or whatnot, wordpress.com is the platform for you to get started and learn. It’s totally free to sign up, but you will be limited in what you can do. If you want to fully monetize your site for commercial use, then I highly recommend wordpress.org, but you will have to pay for your own hosting with the latter. Don’t worry, There are some pretty affordable hosting packages out there these days, as low as $4 a month, and it’s more than worth it.
